The First Annual George West Education Foundation Skeet Shoot
and Auction kicked off on a beautiful October day in South
Texas. The shooters arrived for the Skeet Shoot in the early
afternoon, equipped with their shotguns and ready for a day of
friendly competition. Almost fifty people broke into groups and
made the rounds through the shooting stations to complete the
skeet shoot and, after completing that, many moved on to an
Annie Oakley competition.
After the shoot, the second phase of the event was
ready to begin. The silent auction items were on display, the
dinner tables were set and the band was soon to arrive. As the
other attendees arrived, they mingled with the shooters to enjoy
drinks and begin the bidding on the more then 70 silent auction
items. Among the highlights of these items was a beautiful black
pearl necklace from Cammille’s Original Jewelry in Corpus
Christi and modeled by Madi Arciba, a signed Dallas Cowboy
helmet and multiple fishing trips with condo stays on the Texas
Coast.

As the Rich Lockhart Band played guests enjoyed the dinner of
shrimp boil and fajitas, catered by Trout Street Bar & Grill.
The live auction soon kicked off, with Riley Rhodes and Rusty
Oxford serving as announcer and auctioneer. The auction was
exciting as amazing items from deer feeders, to offshore fishing
trips to guided whitetail hunts in the famed ranches of South
Texas sold to generous bidders.

At the end of the
night, as the bidders checked out, the total funds raised began
adding up to ultimately exceed &75,000. It was a wonderful event
leaving everyone involved ready for next year.
